Hi, my name is Atonya Smith. I am married to a Godly man named Mike. We have two children Kiersten, our 23 year old daughter, and Josh, our 10 year old son. Adoption has always been a thought deep in my heart. Kiersten's father Dennis, who passed away, and I went through the process of being foster parents. It was not in God's timing for us to open up our home, during this process Dennis was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer one week and passed away the next. While this was a very difficult time for Kiersten and I, our Faith and trust in God is what kept us strong.
A few years later God put Mike into our lives. He was truly a God send, and he treated my daughter as if she was his own. Two years after we were married God blessed us with our son Josh. Josh has always had a sweet spirit and loved being surrounded by other people. He has never met a stranger. After having Josh we thought we were to old to have anymore children. God began working in our family, and bringing us closer to him. Recently Mike and I agreed that we were tired of taking the easy road. We agreed that we wanted to serve God in whatever he had planned for us. A week after we prayed for God to use our family we were approached about adoption.
This is just the beginning of our Journey to Adoption. I hope that you will follow us as we go on this amazing adventure that God has blessed us with. Please pray for us as we go through this blessed journey.
